I sometimes have thoughts that I want to share with my daughter. And, yes, I usually do have the conversation with her. But I am not sure how much she pays attention, or will remember. And Maybe just because I think its important or worth remembering, she will not. And that's totally normal and expected. But .. someday...I won't be here. and maybe, just maybe the internet will be. And this blog will have survived. And she will find it - and remember.

Happy Halloween 2014!
My mother loved Halloween. Partly, I think she got into the whole Pagan Holiday of it. But even before she discovered paganism, she dug it. She always decorated - even before people actually did that. (when I was young, no one decorated you house for Halloween. Especially the exterior. In fact not many decorated for Christmas!) My father was against all holidays - so she probably was up against that for most of my life. But once I was an adult, and she was independent, she was able to celebrate the holiday. At one point we both worked for the same office. Before she was hired, I was the girl who won the Halloween costume contest. First prize! (yes, as an adult!). And then she came. And I no longer won first prize. LOL! I had to settle for 2nd. She was outrageous. My costumes were elves, jesters, a football player (funny for a petite 22 year old me!), Clark Kent. She was a scary warted GREEN witch. She was a campy vampire, fake blood, fangs and cleavage to boot! She looked fantastically wonderful - and scary as heck! I didn't mind losing to her. Ever.
